about the artist

Michael began producing dimensional metal art in the early 1970’s after being inspired by another metal artist’s work at an art show. Experienced using oxy / acetylene & arc welding, he began using different metals, creating numerous designs. His first art show in 1973, in Toledo, Ohio began 18 years of regional art exhibitions and gallery events with media recognition in magazines and newspapers.

Over the years, Michael’s metal artwork took on new looks, working with copper, brass, bronze and steels, improving the dimensional look with greater relief. He develops brilliant natural colors with heat infusions on copper and steel, enhancing them with grinding and shaping tools to develop his designs.

In 2002 after a 10 year hiatus, Michael again began work on his metal art. The absence intensified his passion and creativity and in 2003, he began working full-time on his art. Grants in 2006 and 2007 from the Indianapolis Arts Council to decorate the Artsgarden, shows in Chicago and Indianapolis, purchase awards, and recognition from corporations and private groups have been recent high points.
