about the artist

Michael began producing dimensional metal art in the early 1970’s after being inspired by another metal artist’s work at an art show. Experienced using oxy / acetylene & arc welding, he began using different metals, creating numerous designs. His first art show in 1973, in Toledo, Ohio began 18 years of regional art exhibitions and gallery events with media recognition in magazines and newspapers.

Over the years, Michael’s metal artwork took on new looks, working with copper, brass, bronze and steels, improving the dimensional look with greater relief. Using acetylene & oxygen braising, he develops brilliant natural colors on copper and steel, using grinding and shaping tools to enhance his designs.

In 2002 after a 10 year hiatus, Michael again began work on his metal art. The absence intensified his passion and creativity. A 2006 and 2007 grant from Indianapolis Arts Council to decorate the Artsgarden, juried shows in Chicago and Indianapolis, several purchase awards, and recognition from corporations and private groups were high points in 2007.
